CHASING THE LIGHT : Two Days Of Landscape Photography In Aid Of The Community Chest Fund

Saturday, October 17, 2026 6:00 AM - Sunday, October 18, 2026 8:30 PM

Explore, Learn, and Capture the Beauty of Malta

There's something truly special about photographing the Maltese Islands. Despite their small size, they offer an incredible variety of landscapes—from dramatic cliffs and rugged coastlines to hidden bays, salt pans, and colourful sunsets. Every location tells a different story and presents a new creative opportunity.

This workshop has been created for photographers who want to spend two days exploring these unique landscapes while improving their skills in a practical, hands-on environment. Whether you're new to landscape photography or already have experience, you'll receive guidance throughout the entire journey as we photograph some of Malta's most spectacular locations during the best light of the day.

Across the two days, we'll cover topics such as camera settings, composition, focus stacking, exposure bracketing, long exposure photography, and making the most of changing weather and natural light. Our aim is not only to help you capture beautiful images but also to develop the confidence and vision needed to create photographs with greater impact.

Leading the workshop are experienced landscape photographers Earl Mallia and Nathan Camilleri, who will share their knowledge, techniques, and personal approach to photographing the landscape while providing individual guidance throughout each session.

This workshop is organised in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, with all proceeds being donated to support individuals and families in need. By joining us, you'll not only develop your photography but also contribute towards a meaningful cause.

If you enjoy spending time outdoors, discovering new locations, and sharing your passion with fellow photographers, we'd love to have you join us for two unforgettable days of learning, creativity, and exploration.

Workshop Locations & Techniques

Throughout the workshop, we'll visit four carefully selected locations around Malta, each offering unique photographic opportunities. Every session is centred around a different technique, allowing you to develop practical skills while photographing in a variety of lighting conditions and landscapes.

🌅 Sunrise – It-Taqtija, Delimara

Technique: Long Exposure Photography

Our first session takes us to the rugged coastline of Delimara, where we'll explore the creative possibilities of long exposure photography. You'll learn how to use neutral density filters, control shutter speed, and capture the movement of the sea to create smooth, dynamic seascapes.

🌅 Sunset – Għajn Tuffieħa & Il-Karraba

Technique: Composition

As the sun sets over Malta's west coast, we'll focus on building stronger compositions. You'll discover how to work with foreground elements, natural lines, balance, and perspective to produce photographs that are both visually appealing and impactful.

🌅 Sunrise – St. Paul's Islands

Technique: Bracketing & Dynamic Range

This session is dedicated to understanding exposure bracketing and managing high-contrast scenes. You'll learn how to capture multiple exposures to preserve detail throughout the image and create well-balanced landscape photographs in challenging lighting conditions.

🌅 Sunset – Red Tower, Mellieħa

Technique: Composition & Focus Stacking

Our final session combines creative composition with focus stacking techniques. You'll learn how to achieve sharpness throughout the entire frame while carefully arranging your composition to make the most of the surrounding landscape and evening light.

Post-Processing Video Included

After the workshop, you'll receive exclusive access to a post-processing video where we edit one of the photographs captured during the weekend from start to finish. We'll walk you through our complete editing workflow, explaining the techniques and decisions used to transform the RAW file into a polished final image.

This allows you to revisit the editing process at your own pace and apply the same techniques to your own landscape photography long after the workshop has finished.
